JOTI
Jamboree of the Internet - Grange Library 20th October
JOTI (Jamboree On The Internet) is part of JOTA-JOTI, an international jamboree taking place around the world simultaneously. It is organised by WOSM, the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Scouts from all over the world communicate over the Air (amateur radio) and the Internet using any technology locally available. JOTA-JOTI allows you to build friendships around the world and to find out more about their culture and scouting life.
All services we will connect to are operated by Scoutlink (https://www.scoutlink.net/). ScoutLink is a global, non-profit organisation that aims to connect Scouts and Guides from all over the world.
During the event we will connect with other Scouts around the world using:
• Text Based Chat (IRC)
• Voice Chat (TeamSpeak)
• Listening to broadcasts of radio conversations
• Building co-operatively in Minecraft
• Streaming JOTI TV & JOTI Radio
The afternoon will involve a structured series of activities and Joeys will be supervised at all times. This provides a great opportunity to discuss online safety as well as putting those skills to practical use.
All who participate will receive a special JOTA/JOTI badge to commemorate the event.
Notes:
1. Joeys will not be using or accessing any form of social media or general internet access.
2. Parents are welcome to stay
3. Siblings welcome to stay but must be supervised by a parent

What to Bring
▪ Joeys are to wear full Uniform
▪ Water Bottle, Hat
▪ Plate of food to share for Afternoon Tea
▪ Note: All other equipment will be provided
Please Do Not bring:
▪ Lollies, electronic games, i-pods, mobiles, pocket knives, matches, lighters etc.
